2009 NBA Finals Betting Odds (Revised)
May 28, 2009
2009 NBA Finals betting odds have been revised now that the Los Angeles Lakers have secured their spot in the championship game. The Orlando Magic could seal the deal with a win Saturday night against Cleveland.
Here were your 2009 NBA Finals betting odds heading into Saturday evening’s game:
Los Angles -235
Orlando +350
Cleveland +325
Amazingly, the Cavaliers were still favored slightly over Orlando to win while the Lakers were the ultimate favorite to win the 2009 NBA Finals at Bookmaker.com. Should either Cleveland or Orlando win the Final, both would pay out over $300 for every $100 bet. Prior to the last game, the Magic had beaten Cleveland 9 straight games Against The Spread. Orlando was only a -2 favorite playing at home Saturday evening.
"If there’s no Game 7, our season’s over," Cleveland coach, Mike Brown said. "So we’re here to win Game 6."
The Cavaliers, with an NBA-best 66-win regular season, certainly are 0-4 this season in amped-up Amway Arena — a place the Magic start fast and finish. The Cavs have been able to build big leads in Cleveland and hold on late, a luxury they likely won’t get for Game 6 on Saturday night.
It is not only the biggest game in the Magic’s most memorable season since the Shaquille O’Neal-Penny Hardway days, it’s their best chance left to return to the NBA finals for the first time in 14 years.
Cleveland is trying to become just the ninth team since 1947 to rally and win a series after being down 3-1. Still, they do have LeBron James (AKA Superman).
The league MVP scored 21 points in the second half — 17 in the fourth quarter — in Game 5 and had a hand in 31 straight Cleveland points. James finished with 37 points, 14 rebounds and 12 assists to become the first player since Oscar Robertson in 1963 to have such numbers in a playoff game.

Online Casino Slot Tournaments Concluding After Holiday Weekend
May 23, 2009

Golden Casino The Memorial Day weekend has been a huge success for online casinos. Players have spent long hours playing their favorite tournaments on a weekend when almost everybody had an extra day off today.
The biggest tournament that was being run was the $30K Guaranteed Weekend Madness at Vegas Technology powered casinos. The tournament had a twenty dollar entry fee, but that did not stop over 1,000 players from entering.
Most of the slot tournaments that are run at casinos such as Golden Casino and Online Vegas are finished on Monday evening. This tournament, however, is not set to finish until Tuesday, giving players an extra day to try and chase the top money.
“The extra day has been nice because the weather has not been so good where I am at,” said player Delion, “that gave me the opportunity to play throughout the weekend and accumulate a balance that hopefully we allow me to cash in the tournament.”
The top 100 players all receive a cash prize. First place for the tournament will win $10,000. Second place will receive $3,500 and third will get $2,400. At the time of publishing, Divine Ms. A was in the lead with a balance of $69,260.87.

American Idol Finale Helps Bring Gambling911.com Record Traffic
May 18, 2009
So far the month of May has been a banner period for the Gambling911.com website, which kicked off with its biggest day since coming online in September 2000. The Kentucky Derby resulted in just shy of 3 million hits and 1 million page views. Wednesday’s American Idol finale have helped to make May 2009 the biggest traffic month ever for the website.
"We had just over 2 million hits to the site on Wednesday and 727,000 page views," Gambling911.com Senior Editor, Payton O’Brien announced on Thursday.
The site has also become more interactive in recent days via its commenting feature where readers can offer feedback on particular articles. Articles related to American Idol and Celebrity Apprentice have witnessed the most feedback thus far.
"May have traditionally been among the slowest months for online gambling sites, especially the sportsbooks," O’Brien said. "That’s all changed with most of these businesses now offering odds on the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes."
Likewise, the Manny Pacquiao/Ricky Hatton fight and all the hoopla now surrounding Pacquiao following his big win has helped drive significant traffic to the Gambling911.com website.
"While American Idol may not necessarily be geared towards gamblers, there is still a tremendous interest in betting on the show," says O’Brien. "This was evident in the search terms being entered for ‘American Idol Betting Odds’. Then you have the boxing and horse racing, which are practically built around wagering. This all translates into a hugely successful month, not just for Gambling911, but also for the online sportsbooks."

Tournament: When the poker and fantasy communities collide
May 13, 2009
Boylesports’ offshoot BoylePoker has yet again proven its relevance in the field of online gambling with the introduction of an ingenious betting hybrid — fantasy poker.
More specifically, BoylePoker announced the formation of a WSOP Fantasy League which will allow its members to make a free prediction on which five players will take home WSOP bracelets. While participation is free, the prizes are nothing short of impressive.
The winner will net an expense-free £1,000 GUKPT event package. Second place gets an IPO package, and third place gets an entry into the International Poker Open. The winners will be decided through a non-biased points-based system that rewards 10 points per final table and 30 for a win.
All three prizes offer a chance at even more cash, and as an added bonus members who correctly pick five bracelet winners will be on their way to an EPT event in a package that’s valued at €5,000.
The fantasy poker league comes in conjunction with a number of other WSOP wagering opportunities recently announced by BoylePoker. In addition to your free fantasy poker entry, you may also place bets on featured player match-ups as well as individual earnings.
In case you haven’t marked it on your calendar yet, this year’s 40th Annual World Series of Poker starts on May 27, so you’ve got a limited amount of time to send in your BoylePoker fantasy league entry and make any other tournament-related wagers.

New Barney Frank Online Gambling Bill Revealed – 04-11-09
May 8, 2009
May 11 – The new proposed bill was published by Barney Frank, chairman of the US Financial Services Committee, the most vocal of all Senators who oppose the original UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act).
The bill is designed to achieve what many industry observers believe to be the only way forward for online gambling in the US, and that is to issue licenses to operators who are “in good financial and legal standing and of good character, honesty and integrity” and “whose prior activities, reputation, habits and associations do not pose a threat to the public interest or to the effective regulation and control of? the licensed activities,” i.e. operators who haven’t blatantly been involved in illegal online gambling activities.
The bill proposes strict licensing criteria. Operators will have to prove that they have the experience to take and process wagers as well as prior experience in online gambling with adequate financial backing. They should also be able to demonstrate that they have the expertise and technology to combat money laundering and fraud, protect minors and problem gamblers, and ensure that all relevant state laws are protected.
Licenses will be valid for five years and the companies will be subjected to intense background checks as will their directors. Such procedures will be ironed out at as later stage.?
The bills makes provision for penalties if operators do not comply with certain provisions, which include jail terms.
Rep Frank indicated that he plans to present the bill to the House before the August break.
In related news, Frank also announced the introduction of further legislation to delay the implementation of regulations in the UIGEA. Banks and other financial institutions have until December 1 this year to comply with the blocking of financial transactions related to gambling. Franks legislation will push the date back further to 1 December 2010.
The new bill is likely to face stiff opposition from Republicans who were involved in pushing it through the Senate in the first place.
Poker Pro Maria Ho Sober Sats: Drinks LIke a Fish Sun – Fri
May 8, 2009
Poker pro Maria Ho will cut down on her drinking from 7 days a week to 6. She announced Saturday as a "sobriety day" (one would think Monday is better for that).
"After years of torture I think my liver is finally getting through to me so tonight I will opt to stay in and give my liver a rest," Ho said.
It is a problem that has plagued Gambling911.com’s own red hot Asian reporter, Jenny Woo, also a lush.
"I’m a donor and my body parts are either completely destroyed from all this smoking and drinking, or they are functioning better than ever having become immune to all this s*** I put in my body," Woo said.
And like Jenny, Ho tends to roll out of bed around noon.
"Not fun: Waking up at 7:30AM on Saturday to take someone to the airport," Ho says. "Fun: Crawling back into bed after with no intention of waking b4 noon"
Woo was once so drunk she tripped over the curb and fell over some guy receiving a sobriety test in front of her apartment building.
"I’ve cut down tremendously over the past year," Woo said with a celebratory chirp. "Really, the maximum I drink per week is two nights."
Asian women in the United States are immigrants or descendants of immigrants from countries such as China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Their drinking practices are likely to have been influenced by the drinking norms of their ethnic communities in the United States, or by the norms of their countries of origin if they are recent immigrants. Examinations of the drinking behavior of Asian American women typically take these norms into consideration. However, Asian American women’s alcohol consumption is also influenced by a biological factor that affects their ability to metabolize alcohol. This condition typically is manifested as facial flushing, which occurs mostly among Asians.
Twenty-five to 50 percent of Asians possess a gene, inactive aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (ALDH2-2) (Cook and Gurling 2001; Lieber 2001), which causes them to metabolize alcohol differently from people who do not have this gene. ALDH2-2 is one of several variants of the gene that produces aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH), one of two enzymes involved in alcohol metabolism. When a person with this gene drinks alcohol, ALDH2-2 leads to the slower than normal oxidation of acetaldehyde, which results in elevated levels of acetaldehyde in the blood. After drinking, people with the ALDH2-2 gene experience a constellation of physical reactions: perspiration, headache, palpitations, nausea, tachycardia (rapid heartbeat), and facial flushing, which is caused by dilation of blood vessels in the face. These aversive effects are sometimes referred to collectively as "the facial flushing response."
For now, Ho has no intention of downsizing to Woo’s drinking program.
Friday night was another boozer for the poker champ.
"Excellent night with a Lakers victory as expected, some beer, BBQ, and brownie bites and the cutest little three year old British boy!" Ho declared.
Ho is ranked 46th in the Top 100 Women’s All Time Money List. To date, her career winnings exceed $320,000.
