Hachem nearly gets in fight at EPT Grand Final
April 18, 2008
Former World Series of Poker main event champion Joe Hachem is nicknamed “Salty” for a reason, apparently.
With 82 players left in the European Poker Tour’s Grand Final, Hachem nearly got into fisticuffs with a player named Woody Deck. At the time, players were two away from the money bubble.
Here’s what happened, according to pokerkingblog.com:
Joe Hachem was involved in a hand with Peter Traply. On a board of A-6-J-A-3, Hachem bet out 80,000 and Traply called, showing A-10. Hachem tapped the table, said “nice call”, and mucked his hand. This is where things got heated.

Telling the Truth
April 16, 2008
People don’t sneeze when they pick up Aces nor do they flare their nostrils and blink when they are bluffing. Despite Dr. Pavlov’s considerable research, human beings are just not so simple; especially not at the poker table.
But sometimes you pick something up. Sometimes there is just something odd about the way someone is behaving – sometimes something smells rotten. Here is some general advice on reading your opponent’s physical tells. Much of this will read as the Cliff Notes for Mike Caro’s “Book of Tells” and if you want to read as profound an investigation into physical tells as could ever be written, read this classic poker book.

When the World Poker Tour return to Las Vegas next week for its big finale, the $25,000 WPT Championship won’t be the only tournament taking place at Bellagio.
The WPT Ladies tour, which officially kicked off this January at Borgata in Atlantic City, will also conclude with a $1,500 championship event at the famed Las Vegas poker destination. What the event lacks in buy-in compared to the big tourney is already being made up for in controversy, thanks to a chunk of the prize pool being set aside up front for charity.

2+2/neverwin drama, ratcheted up a notch
April 16, 2008
The ongoing feud between twoplustwo.com and and neverwinpoker.com is pretty entertaining if you’re into online poker.
2+2’s Mason Malmuth has now gone on record as saying neverwin is a “ticking time bomb” and “damaging to the poker industry,” according to neverwin. Previously, Malmuth has banned 2+2 members associated with neverwin
If you’re playing catch up, here are some of the past stories on the issue, here and here.
